Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic has been hard on all of us, children have been affected by it the most, with school shut, play grounds out of access, and being quarantined at home. In times like these digital parenting is playing an extremely important role in our lives. We have the top six tips of what you can do while at home.
1. Spend more time together:
Come to think of it, it can be a blessing in disguise the whole family is together, no meetings to rush to, no school hours. You can catch up on so much, time to learn
magic tricks together, read books together, (tip : pick your favorite childhood author, introduce your kids to them).
2. Learn About Coronavirus (Covid-19):
Find out what your children know about the virus. If they are too young and unaware, maybe it's not necessary to introduce them to new fears. If they are confused or have queries, well solve them. If you don't have answers, explore the
WHO website together. It is the best source for authentic information.
3. Don't Over NEWS:
The world is fighting with this pandemic, most of the news is about Coronavirus (Covid-19), the number of people infected, the ones who have lost their lives. Surfing between News channels all day long is only going to increase the stress levels. Watch News once during the day, and once at night. Also if your little ones have queries about the NEWS please explain it to them.
4. Keep it Positive:
It's easy to panic in these times, but keeping it positive is a long term solution that will help you and your children. Wake up every morning knowing we are closer to the solution, build a positive routine, filled with yoga, exercise, smiling time. Yes the little ones might interfere with your work calls, but please remember you are not working from home, you are trying to make things work during a pandemic. Work will suffer a bit but we will make up for it.
5. Build a Happy table:
It's a timetable with Happy activities, so basically like creating a schedule of things to be happy about. Let's start our day with
exercise, followed by breakfast, then some reading, and so on. It takes a while to create a timetable that fits everyone, but it's an awesome #DoItTogether activity, you can create a new Happy Table Every day.
6. Manage Stress:
Like they say on the flights, put your own mask on before assisting someone else, well it's pretty much true for stress. You need to calm yourself before you can have a calm home.
Easiest step, for that is, take some time for yourself. Being a Parent or a caregiver is hard, especially during a pandemic. Be open and listen to your children, they will look to you for reassurance, accept how they feel and give them comfort.
