As part of our weeklong campaign towards Safer Internet Day 2017, today we look at one of Facebook’s newest features. Privacy Basics was launched on Data Privacy Day (January 28), and it makes it easy to find answers about privacy, and how to control one’s information on Facebook.
With 32 interactive guides available in 44 languages, Privacy Basics features topics based on users’ most frequently asked questions on privacy and security. Privacy Basics gives you tips for things like securing your account, understanding who can see posts and knowing what your profile looks like to others. Built in an interactive and fun way, Privacy Basics answers most of one’s most fundamental queries pertaining to Facebook usage, and thus is a one stop shop for any user.
Privacy Basics is part of Facebook’s overall effort to make sure you have all the information you need to share what you want with only the people you want to see it. You can have a look at it here
As part of our week long run up to Safer Internet Day 2017 #SID2017 on 7th February, we will be sharing with you various ways to stay safe on Facebook. Simultaneously, you can participate in our ongoing campaign #PasswordKyaHai which aims to crowdsource ways to keep your passwords strong and secure.
At CSR, we have been collaborating with Facebook for two years now, by way of our #SocialSurfing workshops, which aim to empower youth across India, on using social media in a safe and secure manner. Online Safety has been a point of concern for us in this project, and we focus on providing the adequate knowledge on privacy settings to users, so that their Facebook experience remains enjoyable and secure.
