Positive vibes all around
NIT, Rourkela is ranked 12 in the list of Indian Engineering Universities. Its foundation stone was laid by the first prime minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was granted autonomy in 2002 and now functions independently under the Ministry of Human Resources Development thus becoming one of the National Institutes of Technology.
Social Fencing – one of the most popular activities in our workshops
The drive to Rourkela was stunning. We drove from Balasore and went through about 3 national forests and the landscape was lush green. We arrived at the university and the workshop started at 4 in the evening. The students were of sociology, b-tech and chemistry. The audience of students were interactive and definitely seemed to be enjoying the workshop. A discussion on how politics is being discussed on social media, the use of counter speech, the aspect of using humour, facts, sarcasm and the ability to agree to disagree was a really great outcome of the workshop.
The Social Surfing Pose!
The workshop was a success and the faculty was impressed. They invited us to come back later in the year to do a workshop with the staff and faculty of the university. We look forward to coming back to NIT, Rourkela!
